John Dunsworth, AKA Jim Lahey, supervisor of Sunnyvale Trailer Park lives with his family in a home he built across the bay from Peggy’s Cove. He loves sailing and power boating in the summer when not acting or building granite walls, stairways, or patios around his property.
Born in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, in 1946 and raised in Halifax, he studied theatre at the University of Guelph in Ontario in the sixties; and co-founded Pier One Theatre on the Halifax waterfront in 1970.
Primarily acting, directing, and teaching in the theatre in the early seventies and eighties, he saw an opportunity in the fledging film industry in Nova Scotia, and opened Filmworks Casting Agency. Since then he has worked on hundreds of films, including Titanic, Shipping News and Delores Claiborne.
He is a competitive duplicate Bridge Player, a scrabble nut, and a wicked auctioneer. He volunteers for many organizations, such as the ecology Action Centre, Clean Nova Scotia, Metro Housing Association and the Terry Fox Run to name a few.
He feels lucky to live in Canada and regards CBC radio as one of our finest institutions.
