John Gracie was born to a coal mining family in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. His home growing up, was a stones throw away from the Atlantic and his fondest memories and strongest creative influences are times spent on the "shore". John's music has taken him across the globe and into the international media. His has won awards for his music and he has been chosen to sing for world leaders and at prestigious events.
John's awards and nominations include: the Junos, the East Coast Music Awards, RPM Music Awards, the Best of Texas Awards and the MIANS Awards. In 2004, John released his 7 th album, Acoustic JEEP and has just received a Music Industry of NS nomination for Folk Artist of the Year.
John Gracie has appeared on national and international radio and TV including hosting national TV specials, appearances on Canadian talk shows, Gabereau, Morningside, Today's Country, Midday, Country Beat, Inside Country and he has sung two songs for PBS Sesame Street. John just recently taped a national TV show with Tom Jackson. The special called Kanata was seen this fall on APTN.
John has a variety of live shows to offer:
- His Christmas Show, (a corporate favourite) Christmas As I Remember It is an intimate, up close Christmas Concert based on his Christmas CD, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas (this CD sold over 50,000 units certified gold in Canada) and his national TV Special Christmas As I Remember It (now available on DVD for your viewing pleasure). Guests love to singalong with Christmas Singalong Booklets and is the trick to get everyone in the Holiday Spirit.
- The Great Canadian Singalong: John and a stageful of talented musicians have the audience join them in a singalong of North America ’s greatest folk songs, songbooks are available.
- John Gracie’s Maritime Celebration: A Musical Celebration of Maritime/Celtic favourites. Take a musical journey through Atlantic Canada with John and his band.
- John Gracie- the Songwriter, a solo performance of John’s original music and some of his favourites and the stories behind them.
