Peter has been helping Canadian businesses and homeowners save energy and reduce their carbon footprint since the early 1990’s. His presentations help companies identify sustainability opportunities and link their internal strategies to marketing opportunities, ensuring that greenwashing does not happen. He was a founding board member of the Climate Project Canada, which is a member of the global non-profit organization launched by Al Gore in 2006. This initiative trains people around the world to present a live version of the slide show featured in the movie An Inconvenient Truth. Peter is now the special advisor for the Climate Project Canada. He has given well over 150 presentations since the early ‘90s, including his version of An Inconvenient Truth 65 times for over 12,000 people.
Peter is a co-founder of GreenNexxus, a global online community that focuses entirely on environmental issues. He is also the chief architect of the calculator used in the Cisco and CBC campaign, One Million Acts of Green. One Million Acts of Green was the Overall Winner of the Strategy Magazine Cause + Action 2009 Awards. Combining this experience and sharing successful initiatives have paved the way for making it easier to go green and provides audience members with the tools to make a difference in their own homes, neighbourhoods and communities.
He was awarded the Canadian National Clean Air Day Award in 2007 for Excellence in Efficiency Outreach. He is also the co-author of Cool Comforts – Bargaining for Our Survival, which has over 15,000 copies in circulation.
His past activities included launching the first Employee Energy Awareness Program in Ontario, Canada in 1992 for his employer at the time, Woodbridge Foam Corporation. He was the Environment Director for the Canadian Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association in Toronto from 1996 to 2000. Peter graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick in 1987. He currently lives in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada with his family.
