Jon was born and raised in the United Kingdom and served in the Merchant Navy before immigrating to Canada. He formed Denex Group Inc. in 1977 producing the first Home Show in Nova Scotia, which is now in its 32nd year. Denex became the largest exhibition organizing company in eastern Canada running a number of trade and consumer events across Canada and into the US including Fish Canada and the Boston Seafood Show. He is a past president and Honorary Life member of the Canadian Association of Exposition Management and is a Certified Director of Exhibitions. He is a past president of the Rotary Club of Halifax Northwest and served on the Board of Governors of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business representing Nova Scotia.
