LimeLight Sustainable Policies
LimeLight recognizes that our organization, the meetings industry and the roster of speakers and entertainers we represent has a significant environmental impact. By taking responsibility for our actions we, at LimeLight, are committed to reducing this environmental impact. Through sustainability initiatives, innovative ideas and environmental goals we have set forth the following policies to ensure we make these changes to LimeLight and become a leader in the Sustainable Meetings Industry.
CARBON PHILANTHROPY LimeLight is aware that our business activity has an impact on our environment. On average, LimeLight and our speakers and entertainers travel over 430,000kms a year attending events and conferences. We are committed to offsetting all carbon generated by our employee travel.
We offset using the best practice Gold Standard offsets provided by www.offsetters.ca to ensure a transparent and verified process. To learn more about the offsets we contribute to click here. In addition to offsetting, we strive to balance LimeLight's carbon footprint by participating in philanthropic behaviours such as recycling and promoting sustainable events and travel, along with being active in our non-profit community.
SUSTAINABLE EVENTS Our goal is to become a leader in the Sustainable Meetings Industry and we encourage our clients to embrace the positive change the industry is making by planning sustainable events. We have provided various resources for our clients and others to use on our website. These resources include guides to booking sustainable travel, sustainable venues and other helpful tips. In addition to encouraging our clients to embrace this change, we are committed to making every LimeLight event as sustainable as possible. We practice what we preach!
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT A big part of being sustainable is to give back to the communities in which we live and work. LimeLight is passionate about giving back to our community and we recognize there are many organizations in need of help from its community. We encourage our staff to donate time each month to help provide some relief, need and encouragement to various organizations in the communities that we work in. In additional to monthly volunteer hours we are committed to organizing an annual staff volunteer day to donate our time to an organization that directly relates to the goals and sustainable efforts.
RECYCLING LimeLight strives to reduce our waste through in-office recycling. We recycle paper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum and print cartridges in our office and encourage our clients to follow our example. In addition to recycling, we are committed to composting and using reusable items whenever possible. This includes reusable mugs, glasses, dishware and lunch carriers. LimeLight recognizes that ever effort made towards sustainability is a positive step towards achieving the goal.
PAPER LimeLight is committed to reducing its paper use by shifting to primarily electronic means of communication for proposals, contracts and administrative paperwork. This includes using fax to email, electronic signatures and PDF scanned documents. The paper we do purchase is at least a 50% recycled FSC-certified product. In 2010 LimeLight used over 6000 sheets of paper, we strive to reduce this by 65%.
